The increased fear levels surrounding nuclear power in the aftermath of the meltdown at the Fukushima power plant in Japan last year has led Poland’s deputy minister of economy Hanna Trojanowska to assure citizens that Poland’s nuclear program is safe. “Polish power plants are being created in line with the most stringent requirements of nuclear and radiation security,” says Trojanowska in a statement issued a year after the Fukushima disaster. “The new regulations were developed in accordance with the latest recommendations of the International Atomic Energy Agency, taking into account conclusions made from the accident at the Fukushima plant,” she added.
