Companies that have failed to secure financing from traditional lenders often will turn to WSE-listed businesses for help.
“We loan to companies that are in trouble, and we see a lot of interest in our activity,” said Mariusz Patrowicz, who controls WSE’s Fon and Atlantis companies. “We get around 100 e-mails weekly.”
Margins for such loans can reach 40 percent, according to the daily Puls Biznesu, as the risk for WSE-listed companies is much higher than for banks. Patrowicz has granted a total of PLN 150m in loans, with margins reaching 25 percent. The loans are financed from the companies’ own funds and have brought Patrowicz PLN 1.8m in extra profits.
