Two Russian metal trade fairs postponed due to coronavirus

8 May 2020

Two of the biggest metal trade fairs in Russia that were supposed to take place this year, the Metallurgy Russia and Litmash Russia trade fairs have been cancelled until June 2021. “Against the backdrop of the most recent developments in terms of COVID-19, the re-scheduling of the two metal trade fairs was inevitable – but the only right decision to take in view of the health and safety of our exhibitors, visitors and members of staff,” said Friedrich-Georg Kehrer, Global Portfolio Director Metals and Flow Technologies at Messe Düsseldorf.

Russia’s metallurgy sector is a crucial one for the country and an important source of export revenues and job creation. Alexey Efimov, General Manager of Metal Expo, said the exhibitions would certainly take place in next year but that the health risks that would have been associated with holding them this year would have been too great. Last year, Metallurgy Russia attracted 270 exhibitors from 20 countries.
