The University of North Florida has received a gift of $8.8 million in the form of a land grant from the Widan Investment Corp. The 1,050-acre donation stretches into both Duval and St. Johns counties from south of Beach Boulevard to the end of Harbour View Drive in Marsh Landing. The university will utilize the property for research purposes by both the faculty and UNF students. The land will be named the William C. Webb Coastal Research Station after the father of the president of the Widan Investment Corp. “I’m proud to give this unique property to the University of North Florida Foundation in honor of my father, William C Webb,” said Dan Webb. “I’m excited by the University’s enthusiasm for the development of educational programs, utilizing the William C. Webb Coastal Research Station for our future leaders.”
