The University of South Florida along with its partners, Capstone Development Partners LLC and Harrison Street Real Estate Capital, have announced the start of construction on a $134 million student housing project. Named The Village, the new housing complex will feature five new buildings. The dining hall will be named “The Hub,” and a wellness facility will be called “The Fit.” The student housing complex will be completed in two phases, the first of which should be completed in time to accommodate 900 students for the fall semester of 2017. The second phase is slated for completion one year later. The facility is being built to replace the Andros housing complex, which was constructed in the 1960s. When filled the new buildings will house 2,000 students. The project is the largest public-private partnership in the history of the state university system and the largest approved by the Florida Board of Governors.
