Ten months after starting service in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, Uber has amassed over 10,000 drivers. Uber drivers have provided over a million rides in the tri-county market since the service was launched last June. Uber’s share of all rides has risen to 23% in Miami during the first quarterof 2015, according to software company Certify. Service has become more efficient as drivers are spending more time with paying customers and has allowed Urber to cut rates by 50% over regular taxis. Rates are 20% lower when first launched while driver earnings reported to have doubled. Dade commissioners are to consider a plan next week that would legalize and regulate the service. Dade has issued hundreds of tickets at over $1,000 each (Uber covers drivers for those.) Broward has also issued hundreds of citations to Uber drivers, and is also considering similar legislation to legalize the service.
