After the major acquisition in the Mainz customs port, UBM Development is buying off-market in the booming Düsseldorf media port. An office building in wood-hybrid construction with at least 10,000 sqm gross floor area is to be built on eight floors above ground and 105 parking spaces underground on more than 4,000 sqm gross floor area. Thomas G. Winkler, CEO of UBM Development AG: “We are using the current state of shock on the transaction market to further expand our conservative pipeline.”
The site at Holzstrasse 12 is at the entrance to the planned expansion of the Medienhafen on the Kesselstrasse peninsula, which will further enhance the address. Prominent Vis-a-Vis is the corporate headquarters of the travel portal Trivago. The seller of the property is a family holding company. The purchase price EUR 1,335.00 per square meter GFA.
The Düsseldorf Media Harbor has developed into one of the best locations in the city in recent years. Where silos and warehouses used to characterize the skyline of the former Rhine port, there are now buildings designed by nationally and internationally acclaimed architects such as Frank O. Gehry, Steven Holl and David Chipperfield. The Media Harbor is already home to numerous companies in the fields of media and communication, fashion and architecture as well as art and culture. The wide range of restaurants, trendy bars and clubs has ensured that the Media Harbor is one of the top addresses for Düsseldorf residents and visitors, also in their free time.
The group currently has more than 3,300 apartments and around 200,000 square meters of office space under development. The company is also showing consistency with the planned construction of the building in wood-hybrid construction. Under the strategic motto green. smart. and more, UBM is committed to the development of sustainable, intelligent and aesthetically pleasing real estate and has set itself the goal of becoming Europe’s largest developer of wooden buildings. More than 100,000 square meters of timber construction are already being planned for implementation.
