The UK unemployment rate fell to 6.6 percent, a five-year low, according to figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) today. However, overall earnings did not keep up with inflation, increasing by just 0.7 percent. The number of people out of work in the UK dropped to 2.16 million between February and April, mainly thanks to new jobs created in the private sector, according to the ONS. Just 1.09 million filed for unemployment benefits this month the latest figures show.
