UNICEF may relocate its global headquarters to Prague. The United Nation’s children’s fund is considering signing a lease on space at Veletržní palác in Prague 7. The fund is expected to announce its decision in January. Veletržní palác, currently used by the National Gallery, is set to undergo a thorough reconstruction, and UNICEF says that the completion date is one of the key criteria in its decision, writes the server idnes.cz. The fund is also considering other locations in Budapest, Nairobi and Kuala Lumpur. Relocation from New York is expected to help cut operational costs for the fund. The fund is looking at the safety, infrastructure, technical background and also the labor pool, as it wants to hire 275 of the 300 staff in the new headquarters locally.
