Anglo-Dutch giant Unilever, one of the world’s largest producers of consumer goods, has invested EUR 48 million in its Ploiesti food factory, expanding its surface area from 6,000 to 17,000 sqm. The investment took three years and the result is “one of the group’s most modern European factories”, say the giant’s officials.

Products made in Ploiesti are sold in most European countries, reaching more than 20 countries.

Locally, the company’s story began with the first imports of products in 1991 and was consolidated with the acquisition of the Dero factory in Ploiesti in 1995. Also in Ploiesti, in 2006, the Unilever Food Products Factory was created by relocating the operations of three units – the margarine factories in Târgu Mureș and Bulgaria and the Knorr factory in Otopeni.
