The food group Unilever has headquarters in London and in Rotterdam and operates under British and Dutch law. Now, the company has decided to leave the Rotterdam office and move everything to London. Unilever initially planned to establish its only headquarters in Rotterdam, but revoked that decision in October 2018 under pressure from British shareholders.
Unilever informed the Dutch government of this decision in mid-May. This step will not have consequences for Unilever activities and employees in the Netherlands. The company said it would continue to employ about 2,500 people in the Netherlands and maintain existing contracts in the country. It will also continue to invest in Dutch operations.
