University in Liberec opens new research center

The Technical University of Liberec in North Bohemia opened a new research center worth CZK 655m, the largest investment in the university’s 60-year history, according to its rector Zdenek Kus. Construction of the new building for the Institute of Nanomaterials, Advanced Technology and Innovation was financed by a combination of subsidies from from the EU and the Czech Republic.
The institute, first opened in 2009, has 176 employees working on 43 research projects. It focuses on advanced technologies for the automobile industry, as well as nanofibers use in the medical, environmental and textile industries.
