University in Žilina has opened University Science Park and another facility called Research center. The 29 new laboratories included in the two new centers cost €70m to complete and will focus on new applied technologies including intelligent transport, energetics, biomedicine and construction and management of intelligent buildings. Alternative fuels research and work on progressive materials will also be carried out. The director of the University science park Michal Zábovský believes the investment will improve the university’s ability to compete internationally.
