In line with its expansion strategy to expand its global reach, UPS Healthcare has recently completed several significant investments in Hungary. The aim is to offer customers shorter delivery times and greater flexibility for the development of their business in existing and new markets.
UPS Healthcare has completed the expansion of its logistics center near Budapest with 13,000 sqm of modern storage space. The extended area is equipped with temperature control technology for the transport of a wide range of medical devices and biological drugs sensitive to temperature fluctuations. UPS Healthcare will thus have a total of 37,000 sqm of storage space available for medical shipments in Hungary.
“Biological materials, specialty pharmaceuticals and personalized medicine require reliable temperature-controlled logistics to get patient-critical products where they are needed. We operate in one of the fastest growing healthcare markets in the world and expand our network and quality services in Central and Eastern Europe for our customers to support their growth and success today and in the years to come, ”says Fredrik Jansson, General Manager, Central and Eastern Europe. UPS Healthcare Europe.
The new warehouses are complemented by a growing fleet of temperature-controlled vehicles serving 32 CEE countries, as well as the recently launched UPS Premier service, which enables priority shipping and tracking of critical medical shipments with an accuracy of 3 meters anywhere in the global UPS network.
UPS Healthcare has also made significant investments in key markets for Hungarian exports and created a network of logistics centers for the transportation of medical shipments in Central and Eastern Europe. It also includes specialized logistics centers in Ostrava and Giessen, Germany, which will open early next year. On an area of 24,680 sqm meeting the requirements of good distribution and production processes (GDP / GMP), it will be possible to store more than 30,000 pallets with a variety of medical products at temperatures from 2 to 8 ° C, from 15 to 25 ° C and up to minus 20 ° C. The global biologics market is set to grow to $ 421.8 billion by 2025 from $ 285.5 billion in 2020.
UPS Healthcare’s global network has delivered more than 1 billion vaccines to more than 110 countries, including millions in Central and Eastern Europe, with a 99.9% delivery timeliness. UPS Healthcare also recently announced that it is working with global biotechnology company Novavax to distribute and deliver its newly approved COVID-19 vaccine worldwide, including Hungary and the Czech Republic, with the first doses shipped last month.
