Urban Edge Properties has announced the appointment of Bernie Schachter to the position of Executive Vice President Asset Management. He will oversee Urban Edge’s development and property management functions. Schachter is currently Senior Vice President of Real Estate for Staples, Inc. and has oversight responsibility for retail site selection, store design, construction, and facilities and energy management. Schachter holds a BS in Economics from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, and an MS in Real Estate from MIT. Schachter is expected to join Urban Edge in May 2016. “I have known Bernie for more than a decade. He is an ideal fit for our company given his deep knowledge of retail markets and retailer operations, his focus on execution and his demonstrated leadership abilities,” said Urban Edge’s Chairman CEO Jeffrey Olson.
