Urbanity Campus Tachov has become the first industrial campus in the Czech Republic to achieve the prestigious international BREEAM Communities award. It has now completed the more than three-year certification process with a final rating of “Excellent”. It has thus confirmed its exceptional position in the field of building unique and sustainable campuses not only in the Czech Republic but in the entire CEE region. It is now starting the implementation of the second phase of the project, which will offer 55,000 m2 of leasable space and includes the redevelopment of a multifunctional building that will further lead to the economic and social development of the local area.
The comprehensive BREEAM Communities certificate looks at a number of aspects in the projects assessed, with an emphasis on social, economic or environmental aspects. The Tachov campus achieved the highest ever score in the “social wellbeing” criterion, reflecting the fact that this modern manufacturing complex includes not only production facilities but also shops, services and a children’s group, whose establishment, in cooperation with the city administration and the Freedom Life association, has significantly supported the lack of pre-school education in the local region.
“The opening of the children’s group was part of the socially responsible strategy of the whole project. It leads to providing even more comfort for permanent and tribal employees and at the same time helps the city of Tachov to increase the insufficient capacity of preschool education,” explains Markéta Šimáčková, Operations and Sales Director of the Urbanity real estate group, which is also fulfilling its philosophy of creating a modern, exceptional working environment and at the same time improving the quality of life in the area by expanding amenities or transport and technical infrastructure in close cooperation with the local government and residents.
“We are an investor with a lasting vision in all the locations where we operate. We want to be a considerate and reliable community partner and winning this prestigious award shows that we are moving in the right direction. Our campuses are an integral part of the cities whose prosperity is also in our interest. That is also why we create pleasant, attractive and socially vibrant environments that motivate young people to stay in traditional regions,” said Roland Hofman, co-founder of the Urbanity Group. Thus, the high certification rating, in summary, recognized the overall healthy and sustainable ecosystem of the campus with a clearly beneficial impact on the community and the surrounding area.
The second phase of construction, for which the Urbanity Group has already obtained building permits, will create an additional 55,000 sqm of leasable production space. Units ranging from 3,000 to 18,200 sqm will be available. At the same time, a comprehensive revitalisation of the multifunctional building will be launched, including superior amenities, including hotel-type accommodation, provided to users of the campus as well as the local community. Negotiations are currently underway with potential long-term tenants and operators.
