Portugal’s Minister of Culture Joao Soares has pledged that the government intends to cooperate with Loures City Council in the recovery of Valflores Palace. The 16th century palace, located in Santa Iria da Azóia, has been abandoned for many years and is part of a 44,000 sqm farm that was owned for much of the last century by an English family. The Loures City Council is the current owner of the property, which lies in serious disrepair and is considered unstable. It’s estimated the building’s foundation will need half a million euro in work, funds that will be provided supported by the Municipality of Loures, said its president, Bernardino Soares.
