VAT for new homes in Romania to be dropped starting March 1

The Romanian government has agreed to remove the VAT on sales for newly built home that cost less than €100,000, according to local news reports. The state budget for 2017, which includes this new VAT measure, was approved on Feb. 7 with a vote of 208. Romanian President Klaus Iohannis, however, said that he considers the budget problematic and risky and will decide in the coming days whether to sign it.
