SZDC, the company that maintains the Czech Republic’s rail network, is holding an international architectural competition for the Veleslavin train station in Prague 6. The current station building, which dates back to 1863, is to be replaced with a newer structure, while the area around the station will be redesigned to allow it to function as a key transport hub. The station already serves as a point where passengers arriving by bus from the airport transfer to Prague’s metro station. In the future, the Veleslavin station will serve as an important hub once the airport rail link is completed from Prague’s center. The train will emerge from a tunnel at Veleslavin before continuing on to the airport and to the town of Kladno.
