The construction of a new regional facility for waste management near the Veliko Tarnovo village, Sheremetya, has been completed. The project was funded with over €17m under the EU’s ‘Environment’ operational program. With this system now fully operational,
Veliko Turnovo has one of the most advanced waste management systems in Bulgaria. The entire plant covers an area of 165 acres and will serve 175,000 people from six communities united in the “For clean villages” association. The project was announced in 2013 and approved in early 2014.
