Victor Ponta’s government was sworn in by the Romanian parliament, with 284 votes in favor and 92 against, according to official results announced in the plenum by Chamber secretary Georgian Pop.
The government needed the endorsement of just 231 lawmakers.
The Prime Minister designate Victor Ponta told the assembled deputies in Parliament that the majority that supports his government is a legitimate one, underlining that in the 2008 elections, PSD, PNL and PC obtained most of the seats in the assembly.
The vote was a secret ballot.
