Vilnius Airport terminal to undergo €5m expansion

21 March 2016

The passenger terminal at Vilnius Airport will be expanded in a €5m project that will increase its annual capacity from 3.5-4 million passengers to 5 million. Lietuvos Oro Uostai, which operates of Lithuania’s three international airports, is set to break ground in 2017, with work scheduled for completion later that year or in early 2018.
“The number of boarding gates will be increased. We now have 10 gates and plan to increase their number to 14. Also, we’ll build an additional escalator to reach the border checkpoint when passengers are arriving. It’ll be more convenient for them as they’ll no longer need to walk along corridors. We’ll also enhance aviation security capacity. These works will not affect the functioning of the terminal in any way,” Arturas Stankevicius, the CEO of Vilnius Airport, told the Baltic News Service.
