The city of Prague plans to build several marinas for yachts and recreational boats with restaurants, cafés and commercial space on the Vltava river. City representatives hope this will make Prague more attractive for tourists. “The project is in its initial stages, and we are looking for investors,” said city spokesperson Tereza Králová. The investment is estimated at CZK 1.4bn and would include building a pier in Žluté lázně in Prague’s Bráník district, which would cost CZK 15m. The city would like to add a marina at the Libeň docks worth CZK 1.037bn by 2015. Additional phases could include the refurbishment of the area surrounding the former ice-making plant in Bráník and a marina in the capital’s Hodkovičky district, each worth CZK 200m plus the price of the land. Atelier 8000 is doing an architectural study for the project.
