As part of its long-term plan to expand into Central and Eastern Europe, Voestalpine Steel Service Center Group will open a factory in the Romanian city of Giurgiu this week.
The new €20m factory will produce 130,000 tons of coiled steel per year, which will be distributed to Serbia, Bulgaria and Turkey.
The project was announced in 2007 and received €5m in funding from the European Union.
The Austrian-based Voestalpine Steel Service Center Group ended the 2011/2012 fiscal year with a turnover of €12bn.
