VW chooses Września for new Crafters plant

19 March 2014

Volkswagen has decided to build a new production center in the city of Września, in an investment that will add more than 2,300 jobs to the region. The center will manufacture VW’s Crafter cars. Construction on a 220 ha plot will start in the fourth quarter and is scheduled for completion in 2016. “The decision to start producing Crafters in Poland sets a new direction for our strategy for light vehicles,” Dr Leif Östling, a VW board member, adding that the brand has increased its market share and is on its way to becoming a global force.

This will be the German automotive giant’s second production facility in Poland. It also has a factory in Poznań, which produces VW Caddy carrier vehicles.
