Vydrica scheme gets underway beneath Bratislava castle

24 September 2019

Initial groundworks have begun on a €200m mixed-use complex next to the SNP bridge in downtown Bratislava by Vydrica Development. This first phase of work is expected to finish by February after which technical infrastructure will be installed, according to the Slovak daily Pravda. In all, 450 apartments are to be built, with 208 planned in the first of three phases, along with 700 underground parking places. Offices will also be included in the project. Vydrica’s location underneath the Bratislava castle has forced the developer to approach the project carefully, including its use of materials and the impact it has on the city’s skyline. The tallest buildings will be 5 storeys, while buildings further up the slope towards the castle will appear smaller.
