Warsaw Chopin Airport checked in 1.94 million passengers in July, an increase of about 0.5 per cent compared to the same month of pre-pandemic 2019, the airport said. This is a record July in the history of the capital’s airport.
In every month, the number of travellers exceeded the expected levels. In July, there were exactly 1,937,489 passengers. The record-breaking day at Chopin Airport was 16 July, when 67,000 passengers were cleared in a day. Traffic at the port continues to grow, air travel is extremely popular. Taking into account the current results, Chopin Airport can boast a remarkable result – 225 million passengers checked in during the 21st century, it was announced.
The capital’s airport has checked in more than 10 million travellers since the beginning of 2023. On current trends, everything points to Chopin Airport checking in around 18 million travellers in the whole of 2023.
“We will probably produce a record result this year, making 2023 the best in the port’s history so far. We expect the number of passengers to grow, although perhaps at a slightly slower pace,”- said spokesperson Anna Dermont.
In July, more than 412,000 charter passengers were checked in at Chopin Airport. This is an increase of 25% compared to the same period in 2019. In July, 9,500 tonnes of cargo and mail were handled at the capital’s port, and a total of 63,200 tonnes since the beginning of the year, it was also reported.
