Reconstruction of the lower portion of Wenceslas Square is set to begin in April according to Czech Television, which reports that the contractor Hochtief CZ has been awarded the project. The work will require an archaeological study to be performed making the total time needed to complete the work around two years. Reconstruction will be carried out according to the original documentation provided over a decade ago by the architectural studio Cigler & Marani. Progress should be made during 2020 on the portion between Mustek at the bottom and the Ambassador hotel. Completion of the work, all the way to the intersection at Jindříšska, is expected in 2021. In all, the contract is expected to cost the city CZK 326.6m. Prague 1’s new leadership, says it will support the work as laid out in the agreed project documentation as well as the approved time schedule.
