The Mihai Bravu-Splaiul Unirii overpass in southern Bucharest should have been completed in April this year. But the delivery date has come and gone and instead of two parallel overpasses carrying heavy traffic in each direction, only a few pillars were ready, writes Curierul National.
Having seen work stopped for several months since 2011, the municipality re-started work in May and the new deadline (claimed to be the last) is October 2012.
Challenges had arisen to the investment’s building permit, when a former city council deputy accused city hall of beginning work without an approved urban area plan. This brought work to a halt on January 20, 2011.
