Wienerberger Group invested CZK 60m into the expansion of its brick production line in Novosedly in south Moravia. CEO Heimo Scheuch told Hospodářské noviny that the company plans to start producing new types of bricks at the site. The new bricks will be injected with mineral fibers to offer better insulation. Scheuch hopes that the new product will boost sales for Wienerberger Group’s Czech branch.
The company chose the Czech Republic for the new production line because of its proximity to Slovakia, Poland and Austria, where Wienerberger has a strong customer base.
Wienerberger posted its best results in 10 years in 2013, with revenues exceeding €2.6bn (CZK 71bn) and EBDITA hitting €266m. Scheuch wants the company’s operational profit to grow to €300m this year.
