Tracking Poland’s biggest construction companies, the WIG-Budownictwo index dropped by 1.4 percent on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since the start of the year, the business website parkiet.pl reports. The index, however, is expected to rebound in the coming months. Market watchers expect top-performing builders will give the index a boost in the third quarter of the year, as companies continue to post better-than-expected financial results. While the index has been posting losses since the beginning of the year, Poland’s top contractor Budimex rose by 39.6 percent during the first four months of the year, followed by Elektrobudowa, which increased by 11.7 percent. “Both companies have maintained strong performances while the entire sector has been suffering from the slowdown,” says Piotr Zybała of DM mBanku. “Additionally, they both have the access to financing and guarantees from the bank, which allows them to stand out against their competitors on the market.”
