Measures taken to combat the COVID-19 pandemic have resulted in a drastic reduction in the number of commercial flights worldwide, but Hungarian-based Wizz Air hopes to get off the ground in Vienna beginning May 1st. The airline plans to renew flights to 20 destinations across Europe, according to its CEO Stephen Jones, but initially, there will be only a few flights per week. He said ticket prices would be kept to a minimum due to what’s expected to be low demand. Even so, Jones warned against making it illegal for airlines to be forced to keep the middle seat of each row free. He complained that would result in 33 percent reduction in ticket sales, a questionable claim since this would assume all flights were full.
