Ondrej Matej, the head of Slovakia’s Institute for Transport and Economy (IDH), wants to expedite work on Bratislava’s D4 and R7 ring roads. He told the server hnonline.sk that construction should start in March 2015, three months earlier that originally planned. This would enable completion of the R7 in three years and of the D4 in four to five years. He criticized the fact that Bratislava is not entitled to tap EU funds and thus lacks enough financing for the €2.6bn investment. Matej says the ring road could be realized as a PPP project.
