WSE: The share of individual investors in the main market amounted to 24% in H1. 2021

The share of individual investors in turnover on the main market of the Warsaw Stock Exchange (WSE) amounted to 24% in H1. 2021 (by 2 percentage points more y / y). On the NewConnect market, individual investors continued to play a dominant role, accounting for 88% of turnover (down by 5 percentage points y / y), the stock exchange reported.

“In the first half of 2021, foreign investors had the largest share in turnover on the main stock market of the WSE. They amounted to 55%, 3 percentage points less than in the previous year. Domestic individual investors generated 24% of turnover, which was an increase of 2 percentage points. % y / y. It was also the highest share in the first half of the year in the last 10 years. Domestic institutional investors generated 21% of the turnover, 1 percentage point more than in the first half of 2020” – according to the WSE announcement.

The share of foreign investors also increased in options and amounted to 35% (+ 5 percentage points y / y). It was also the highest percentage in the first six months of the last 10 years. In the first half of this year, the share of institutional investors in futures trading fell to 37% (-1 percentage point y / y), and in the options market it increased to 23% (+2 percentage points y / y). The share of foreign and individual investors in the market of structured products was 49% and 51%, respectively, also indicated.

“The share of domestic individual investors in bond trading on the Catalyst market decreased by 13 percentage points y / y to 26% in the first half of 2021. The share of foreign investors increased to 1% (+1 percentage point y / y), while institutional investors increased by 12 percentage points y / y to 73%, which is a record of results from the last decade” – further announced.
