The developer YIT is redeveloping the former Meopta factory in the Kosire district of Prague into a residential complex with 149 low-energy flats. Roughly 120 of the new units will be lofts with the rest offering just a single floor of space. Customers can choose between sizes of as little as 44 sqm up to as much as 250 sqm of space in the project, whose design will reflect the project’s industrial past. YIT expects to complete the project halfway through 2022. “Even thought the existing buildings aren’t protected monuments, we never even thought about tearing them down,” says YIT Stavo’s director Vladimir Dvorak. “On the contrary, the architecture is so unique that we and the architects saw a huge opportunity from the very beginning. We’ll retain the original construction’s size and proportions and we’ll leave its industrial style.” Nine commercial units in will be created on the ground floor of the former factory to form an interesting retail passage offering services and shops.
