Zlaty lihovar to redevelop former distillery in Prague 5

7 October 2015

Zlaty lihovar is planning to redevelop a 2.2 ha brownfield in Prague 5-Smíchov. Zlíchovský lihovar, a former distillery, will be rebuilt into a new residential neighborhood with 500 flats, 3,500 sqm of ground-floor retail and a central square. The developer intends to preserve the site’s historic chimney and cooking house, which will feature prominently in the central square. The project, designed by GeddesKanka, will go up in three phases. Michael Barnett, Zlaty lihovar’s owner, says that construction costs are expected to run to CZK 1.25bn. He hopes to be able to break ground in late 2017. Construction is expected to take five to six years. Flats will be offered at CZK 65,000/sqm, while penthouses will sell for CZK 125,000/sqm.
