Złoty strengthens on Monday opening

11 June 2012

The decision on support for the banking sector in Spain has improved sentiment on the currency markets, analysts claim, with the Polish złoty gaining against the US dollar and the euro shortly after the opening bell. The US currency fell PLN 0.5 against the złoty on Monday morning, reaching PLN 3.40, according to Poland’s biggest lender PKO. The Euro also dropped PLN 0.2 at the beginning of the week against Polish zloty from PLN 4.30 to PLN 2.28. The spectacular opening suggests continued volatility through the week, the bank predicts.
