ZZS set to lead Latvia’s governing coalition

With its leader, Maris Kucinis, poised to become the next prime minister of Latvia, the Union of Greens and Farmers (ZZS) will lead the the country’s next governing coalition, according to local media reports. Kucinis will likely be confirmed as PM during a vote of confidence on Feb. 11. ZZS has secured support from the Unity and National Alliance political parties. Latvian politicians have been scrambling to form a new government since December. If Kucinis is named prime minister next week, then ZZS will hold five other ministerial posts: defense, finance, transport, agriculture and health.
