Multi Development secured a permit to tear down the Tesco department store in Prešov, marking the start of construction of Forum Prešov after 10 years of planning. Multi Development originally planned to build the new shopping center on a parking lot it bought from the city 10 years ago. The developer designed a 17,000 sqm shopping complex, which it had originally hoped to open in 2009. However, the financial crisis forced the company to put the project on hold. The development got back on track in 2014, with Multi negotiating the acquisition of the Tesco department store. The takeover will allow the developer to expand the retail space to 27,000 sqm and add 50 more units. Multi Development is planning to open Forum Prešov by the end of 2018.
