Macedonia’s retail volume up 1.6% y-o-y in Q4 2016

Confidence in Macedonia’s retail sector in the fourth quarter of 2016 fell 0.2 percent q-o-q, but increased by 1.6 percent y-o-y, according to recent data published by the State Statistical Office. The country’s economic situation was more favorable in Q4 2016 compared to Q3 2016 and Q4 2015.

Prices in Q4 2016 increased slightly compared to the previous quarter. They are also expected to increase over the next three months. The increase was driven by an jump in competition (22 percent) among other factors.
