Tesco sells off Czech opticians network

24 October 2016

The Czech branch of Tesco has sold off a network of opticians stores that were located in five of its hypermarkets. The stores were acquired by Galaxy Optical Services, which produces and distributes glasses and contact lenses. The transaction involved hypermarkets located in Ostrava, in Prague (in Tesco’s hypermarkets at Skalka, Even and on Národní třída) and another hypermarket in Pilsen. In past years, Tesco had made a push to offer in-store options for specialized services to attract more customers, but has the retailer has been cutting back on its activities recently.
