Home furnishings retailer IKEA has selected Marcobay Construction to serve as construction manager for the company’s site work and store development project. Located approximately 10 miles southeast of downtown Jacksonville, the new 290,000 sqf IKEA will be built on 25 acres along the northwestern corner of Interstate 295 and Gate Parkway. Once completed the store, IKEA’s fifth in Florida, is expected to employ approximately 250 people. Groundbreaking is expected to commence next month with an anticipated completion date of fall of 2017.
“With contractors onboard, plans can proceed towards opening the future IKEA Jacksonville,” said Lars Petersson, IKEA U.S. president. “This store will provide a more convenient IKEA shopping experience for current and potential customers throughout North Florida and Southern Georgia, complementing our growing southeastern U.S. presence.”
