Online retail trade increased by 18 percent on the Hungarian market in the first six months of the year, according to a survey by GKI and the online shopping guide Árukereső. Turnover totaled approximately HUF 131bn in H1, with growth strongest in the second quarter. IT goods drove sales, with 2.6 purchases made per 100 site visits, according to the survey. Home and garden retailers reported the weakest showing, with only 1.4 purchases per 100 site visits. Major sporting events helped boost the overall growth of the country’s e-commerce sector between January and June, according to the survey.
