Hamleys has opened its first store in the Czech Republic on Prague’s main shopping highstreet at Na Příkopě, Prague 1. The toy retailer leased space in Na Příkopě 14 which served formerly as the headquarters of ČSOB bank, until Lordship and Immofinanz bought the building for refurbishment and repositioning. Hamleys occupies 6,000 sqm of the 24,000 sqm of usable space and this initial opening involves two-thirds (4,000) of the toy shop’s total space. Head of Retail Europe for Immofinanz, Nicolas Fernandez de Retana, says the investor is in negotiations with Hamleys about further expansion opportunities in Immofinanz owned retail projects.
