Lidl modernizing its supermarkets in Slovakia

8 March 2016

Lidl plans to build a new supermarket in Púchov, Slovakia, to replace an old one the company would like to tear down. The original supermarket was built in 2004 at the crossing of 1. mája, Svätoplukova and Vsetínská streets. The company plans to expand the store’s area to 2,300 sqm, while reducing the number of parking spaces on the 6,600 sqm site from 150 to 105 spots. The new store will feature an updated interior and exterior design and should be more energy efficient. Lidl’s first modernized store opened in Piešťany in November 2015 and the company plans to gradually modernize all its supermarkets through a €230m investment program.
