Largest Czech e-retailer plans European expansion

The biggest Czech eshop Alza.cz is planning to expand into new countries, according to its vice chairman of the board Tomáš Havryluk. He said that already, the company is active not only in Slovakia but in 26 other European countries, with foreign business responsible for nearly CZK 1bn in revenues. Last year, the company had CZK 17.3bn in turnover and plans to break the CZK 20bn mark in 2016. Havryluk told the daily Hospodářské noviny that Alza plans to double its turnover every four year, though he admits that strengthening competition could slow its growth. Overall, writes HN, the volume of sales online in the Czech Republic is CZK 81bn. Alza will be investing in mobile applications and in opening new pick up points. It also plans to begin selling sporting goods along with tools.
