Rising demand for Czech farming land is pushing prices up, according to Hospodářské noviny. It cites the server farmy.cz which claims that prices rose 16.5 percent last year to an average of CZK 162,565 per hectare. HN reports that prices rose 12.5 percent in 2014. Meanwhile, the official price set by the Agricultural Ministry is just CZK 7.14 per sqm, and the numbers indicate that the gap between this price and the market price is widening. In 2015 the differential was 128 percent, while in 2014 it was just 100 percent. Fields of between five and 50 hectares were the most attractive. Two hectare plots cost CZK 146,000 per hectare, 2-5 hectare plots sold for CZK 149,000/hectare while plots of between 5 and 50 ha sold for CZK 168,000/hectare. Despite this trend, prices for Czech agricultural land are still relatively cheap compared to those on offer in Germany.
