Miami-based national homebuilder Lennar Corporation has completed the purchase of 1,400 acres in east Manatee County for $38 million. In August, the Manatee County commissioners approved Lennar’s general development plan to build 1,999 homes on the property located north of State Road 70. Lennar acquired the property from Schroeder-Manatee Ranch Inc., developers of Lakewood Ranch in east Manatee County.
The plan calls for the plot to be built into two subdivisions. The northern portion of the parcel will be called Lakewood National Golf and Country Club and will encompass a gated 36-hole golf course community, 477 single-family homes and 1,110 multifamily units. The remaining tract of land, which is divided by the Braden River, will have 412 single-family homes constructed on it and will go by the name Bridgewater East.
