Makro to focus on distribution on Czech market

Makro revenues on the Czech market hit CZK 28.3bn over the last 12 months. The wholesaler earned CZK 27.6bn with a net profit of CZK 1.2bn in the 2013/14 fiscal year. Its German mother company, Metro started restructuring five years ago. The group has withdrawn from some markets and reduced its retail activities in others. In the Czech Republic, the company focuses on wholesale. Makro has invested CZK 540m to redesign its stores on the Czech market, up from CZK 83m last year. The chain operates 13 brick-and-mortar stores on the Czech market. The company plans to focus on distribution and delivery of goods ordered online.
