Sconto will open a store at Pharos Park near the Bratislava airport on Oct. 1. The 14,000 sqm store will be the third and largest location in Slovakia for the German furniture retailer. The other two Sconto stores in Slovakia in Nitra and Trnava, are half the size. Sconto will compete with Ikea and Kina. The other two furniture retailers have stores on the other side of the D1 motorway at the Avion shopping center. Construction of Sconto Pharos Park took a year and cost €15.5m. Sconto is part of Germany’s Höffner group and has been active in Slovakia for five years.
